Statistics on America’s Obesity Rates

June 29, 2015 By Premier Rehab

The statistics on overweight/obesity rates are shocking. 63% of males and 55% of females in the USA are considered to be overweight in the USA.

It is almost unbelievable, but the average American is more than 24 pounds heavier today than in 1960. Over the past 35 years, obesity rates have more than doubled and since 2009, the obesity rates have remained the same. This indicates things aren’t getting any better yet.

Most studies use body mass index (BMI) of 25 kg/m2 as the definition of being overweight. Obesity is rated as 30 kg/m2. The table below will help you easily calculate your BMI.
